Funny you ask… My fellow soccer moms, who are also runners, soccer players, and
triathletes, have seen me studying and testing out all these products with quiet
enthusiasm. Finally, one of them asked the most basic of basic questions: “What is
CBD? I hear about it all the time, but really don’t know what it is”.Well that opened Pandora’s box… soon I heard: “Is it Pot?”, “Will it get me high?”, “How do I know what is real or not?”
My friends, do I have some good news for you!
CBD is short for Cannabidiol, one of 113+ natural plant compounds –aka- Phyto-
cannabiniods found in the Cannabis and Hemp plants. CBD is NOT Pot, and will NOT
get you high. It does not include the buzz generating cannabinoid THC that pot does.
Some consider THC to be the ying to the yang of CBD.
There are a lot of health benefits to CBD though, and more recently, I have been
exploring it’s relieving and recovery benefits. This is great for the athletes in my life,
and very exciting for those looking to alleviate discomfort through more natural methods.
CBD works hand in hand with our Endocannabinoid System or ECS.
The ECS plays a key role in regulating a variety of functions such as energy storage
and nutrient transport (More on the CBD/ECS partnership in the next post). Most important in my book is easing stress and discomfort.
As I embark on this journey, I’m excited to share with you my findings and great
products to help your enhance your livelihood for the better. Here’s to living our best life!
